Predicted Cu adsorption as a function of pH on mixtures of kaolinite and HFO. Lines indicate fits using the Sverjensky and Sahai [38] 1-site HFO model and 2-site kaolinite model with formation of a monodentate Cu complex on a variable charge site and no Cu adsorption on the ion exchange site. Model fits calculated using parameters shown in Tables 1, 2 and 3. Open and closed symbols indicate experiments with base titration (closed symbols) followed by acid titration (open symbols).
